How many people in the US rely on hunting?

Over 300 million hunters reside in the United States. This means that there are almost twice as many hunters in America than people who live in New York City.

Hunting has been a popular American pastime for centuries. Today, however, hunting for sport is less popular than ever. According to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service(FWS) says that only 2 per cent of the population hunts on a regular basis. The percentage of young adults hunting is even lower.

But while hunting may seem like a relic of another time, it remains popular among older generations. A recent survey found that 68 percent of baby boomers plan to hunt again when they retire. Hunting for them is a way of connecting with nature and enjoying the outdoors.

For younger generations, however, hunting isn't necessarily a priority. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation only 18% of millennials consider themselves avid hunters.

FWS is committed to ensuring that America's wild areas remain accessible for all.

To raise awareness about public lands in the country, the agency launched the "Wild Lands” campaign in 2014. Its goal is to raise awareness about the importance these areas have and to encourage people to go to them.

Conservation efforts are also encouraged through the Wild Lands Program. FWS and National Rifle Association partnered to create Project Gunter, which is a youth shooting sports program. This program teaches kids how to safely handle firearms and helps them develop skills such as marksmanship and safety.

Project Gunter now includes women and minorities. It has resulted in more children learning to shoot guns and taking part in wildlife conservation.

Hunting is like playing with nature. You need to think ahead, plan each move and anticipate where the game is going next.

Hunting is about hunting food. To do this, you have to be able track and identify your prey. If you don't know these things, then you'll never catch anything.

When hunting, the most important thing is to never lose your eyes. This will ensure that you don't miss any opportunities. Once you spot something, get close enough that you can identify it. Next, take a detailed note of what you saw and write it down. If you decide to hunt again, this will be helpful.

It's more than just shooting at targets. It's about being in touch with your surroundings and the animals around.
