Mormon Trail Shooting

A 1 ton flatbed truck full of firewood was traveling westbound on the Mormon Immigrant Trail at the time of the accident, when it hit a group of 35 motorcyclists riding two abreast in the eastbound lane. This caused the truck to lose control on a straight stretch of road, careening across the westbound lane. The truck struck and killed three motorcyclists.

Perils of the trail

One of America's most iconic routes was the Mormon Emigrant Trail. It connected the states of Illinois and Missouri to the Great Basin and tens of thousands of emigrants came over the route. The trail generally followed preexisting paths and brought hundreds of thousands of Mormons to the Great Basin and the State of Deseret. The Mormons were able to stay in tents throughout the journey, some even managed to survive the rough terrain and weather and shot each other. The "Donner party", the most famous of all, camped at a Sierra Nevada Lake for several days before it was attacked by Native Americans.

Station/Trade Post

Emigrants were able to trade supplies and goods at a trading post/way station. Early Mormons used wagons to move and shelter. The wagon would be used by the Mormons to temporarily shelter them until they could construct a permanent structure. While the average wagon contained three people, there were often eight pioneers in many "church teams". They would then turn discarded materials into firewood.

Cholera outbreak

Cholera was a major concern for emigrants. Although there was no cure for cholera at that time it was a real danger. While the majority of the cholera outbreaks have been attributed to human errors, it was a major contributor to the 1850s-1860s cholera epidemics. It caused severe trauma to the emigrant route.

Scavenging parties

The Mormon emigrant Trail required that travelers had supplies. Many of them left behind essential items. They would then scavenge the items and trade them for higher quality ones. Mormons sent scavenging teams to gather supplies and transport them to Salt Lake City. They could transform the iron they salvaged into almost any kind of product, including tools and weapons. Many travelers used their finds as firewood.

Pioneers in Nebraska

In the early 1840s pioneers set out from Nauvoo to cross the Mississippi River near "Exodus to Greatness". They then traveled 7 miles west to Sugar Creek staging area, close to Lee. Brigham Young joined with the pioneers at Sugar Creek on Feb 15, 1845. After the shooting had stopped, the group headed west and reached Garden Grove, located 144 mi west of Nauvoo. It is 120 miles east of Council Bluffs. This settlement was the first permanent camp established between Winter Quarters & Nauvoo. Its pioneers created 715 acres of prairie sod and built cabins. The town was established in three weeks.

Accidental killers

The Trail's most famous incident, the Indian attack on Mormon emigrants in 1844, was perhaps its most well-known. In this incident, a trail gunner, John Shotwell, accidentally discharged his gun. Shot in the chest, Shotwell was killed a few hours later. According to Mormon emigrants' leadership, Shotwell died from his injuries in the chest.

How To

How to make a Deer Blind

A deerblind is a type hunting device used for hiding from game animals, such as deer, elk, and so on. It consists of a small enclosure made of wood or canvas, usually covered with branches and leaves. The hunter hides inside the enclosure and waits for the animal to pass by. For hunting at night, deer blinds are often used.

There are many types of deer blinds. Some are portable while others are permanent structures. They are typically constructed out of materials like plywood, cardboard, plastic, canvas, or metal.

The most commonly used type of deerblinds is the box blind (also called box stand), which consists of a wooden box with roof and walls. Because they are easy-to-assemble and transport, boxes are very popular.

A tree stand is another form of deer blind. Tree stands are designed to look natural so that no one would suspect they were there. Tree stands are usually permanently attached to trees.

Ground blinds are also available, which look similar to tree stand but are built into a ground. Ground blinds can be camouflaged using grass, dirt or rocks. Ground blinds also sometimes go by the name "ground boxes".

There are several ways to hunt with deer blinds. You can wait for the animal's approach by sitting still. There are two options. One is to try and scare the animal away by moving around. If you choose this method, make sure you stay quiet and don't move too much. This could cause the animal to believe you are a predator and make them run.

If you want to use a deer blind, you'll first need to find a suitable spot. The best place to use a deer blind is one where the wind will not blow your scent towards it. Avoid areas where people often hike.

Make sure that you are able to set up your deer blind correctly. Otherwise, the animal will see you and run away.
